What struck me in the session this morning was how much Metta practice is important in dealing with this. Accepting oneself just as one is. Forgiving oneself, forgiving others.

I have found Metta practice to be very important and helpful myself but for me it is in regards to my tendency to have excessive and often unnecessary guilt. This stemmed from guilt, fear and manipulation being forced into me from an early age in my parents strict brand of Christianity.

I am finally learning how to forgive myself and not be so hard on myself. That being said I don't give myself permission to go around and do whatever I want. I have the opposite problem as I stated. I am also learning to let go of things easier and more regularly. Buddhism has been such a great tool for me in dealing with my schizoaffective disorder as well. Meditation is a great anti-depressant and anti-anxiety technique.
