Auckland Zen Podcast

Friday, August 28th, 2009

I think it’s great that the Auckland Zen Centre has started doing podcasts. They’re only just up and can be found at aucklandzenpodbean.com

I’ve only listened to the first one, which was a teisho given by Amala sensei immediately following her teacher-sanctioning ceremony in New York. It’s called “Sangha & Interbeing”.

I enjoyed this talk, especially the parts on renunciation and sangha. She points to the western focus on increasing productivity puts community at the bottom of the pile. I’m doing some work with a community organisation at the moment who seem themselves as a connective tissue between community groups. The idea of the discipline of community makes a lot of sense. Something that a Tibetan teacher at the beginning of last century pointed to with his idea of units of goodwill.

I’m looking forward to listening to more.
